Oh, honey honey

best of 2020

This is a month late but time is relative these days. It’s also very dissonant to put the word best and 2020 in the same line but here we are, getting by. These are the top six oh, honey honey recipes you all clicked on the most, or potentially the ones I’ve clicked on the most because I make up 90% of the traffic to my own blog. Either way, we’ve got good taste.

1. coming in hot at number one once again is marble loaf cake. She is the Lebron of cake. I described the texture as airy fudge in the original blog post and last year’s round up and I stand by that and it needs no further explanation.
2. montreal style bagels! One of the few top ten recipes that is actually from 2020 because I didn’t have the bandwidth to write on here and it felt out of place with everything going on in the world. But I really hope the 166 people who clicked on this made these because you’re doing yourself a solid to have a hot bagel these days.
3. sticky bun kouign amann from “pastry love” coming in a close third. This dough is a dream to work with and flour bakery is such a values-based business, always collaborating with different charities and organizations. Should I ever convince investors to take a chance on a blog with less than 300 followers, I’d love to run my bakery in the same way.
4. The photos of these whipped shortbread cookies with blackberry icing are so atrocious that it really speaks volumes to how good the cookies are that they are sliding in at number 4. As they always say – don’t judge a book by its grainy fluorescent lighting.
5. Now I am really starting to think this is just all my own personal blog visiting because almond cake is a religion in my family. My sister recently requested this as her winnings after she donated to my mini bakers against racism bake sale. She maintains cake is not a breakfast food but this is where she’s mistaken.
6. My computer is too slow to actually check the facts on this, but I’m pretty sure browned butter oreo toffee chocolate chip cookies make the list every year. You guys like shoving cookies into cookies and I love you for it.

Here’s to a happy, healthy, safe, equitable, buttery 2021.

I am with you on all of the above except the marble cake. It doesn’t stand out as a #1. We did make an amazing pumpkin breads this year that would easily take #1 for me
