Oh, honey honey

best of 2018

Time to round out the year with some best of the oh, honey honey archives.  It’s been a slower second half of the year as far as blog posts goes (I was chastised by not one but two family members for this at Christmas) but I’m still keeping the non stop butter tribute going on instagram.  In 2018 I finally completed my last academic hurdle ever and embraced layer cakes like never before.  Both equally important milestones.

  1. The number one spot is a bit of a surprise throwback from a 2016 recipe.  Though honestly, browned butter oreo toffee chocolate chip cookies with sea salt never go out of style.
  2. I’m so thrilled to see the almond cookie cake in at number two because this is the most underrated cake in the world.  So simple, involves margarine, and is best eaten cold from the fridge.
  3. My Christina Tosi/Molly Yeh mash up homemade funfetti birthday cake is a true favorite of mine.  Turning 30 never looked so adult.
  4. Further confirming oh, honey honey is just a tribute blog to Molly, marzipan and dark chocolate mandel bread is fourth in line.
  5. Peanut butter raspberry pie guys!  One of my first bakes entirely from the sugar rimmed confines of my brain.  Looks a bit like a weird deep dish pizza, tastes like peanut butter and jelly on crack.
  6. So many recipes from 2016 coming in hot this year.  Whipped shortbread with blackberry icing is a timeless favorite.
  7. Duly noted everyone – sprinkles are a hit.  There’s no better way to showcase them then in these rainbow sugar cookies.
  8. A cocktail!  One step closer to being sponsored by tanqueray (mostly because I can’t get further away from being sponsored.)  I’ll be sipping on a lemon rosemary ginger tonic, just waiting for the call.
  9. I’m fairly confident the only reason the berry breakfast bars made the list is because a random Canadian website once posted to them.  Thank you Canada.  I accept.
  10. New Year’s resolution for 2019, get more chocolate wasted.  Start with the browniest cookies.

Lots of love and lots of butter to you all – happy 2018.

Where is the brown butter cake with buttercream frosting and gingerbread crmubles that BLEW THEM AWAY at Christmas! And just going on record that I am not a sprinkles fan. Just remember that on my birthday
